    New Year’s Day

Every year on January 1, people in many countries of the world celebrate the start of a new year. Nothing has changed about the New Year this year either. In fact, festivals and celebrations that mark the beginning of the calendar have been around for thousands of years.

However, many New Year’s celebrations were associated with agricultural and astronomical events, while some festivals were seen as opportunities for drinking and entertainment. For example, in Egypt, the new year began with the annual flood of the Nile, which coincided with the rising of the Starfish.

The Phoenicians and Persians started the new year with the spring equinox, while the Greeks celebrated the new year on the winter solstice. The first day of the Chinese New Year was accompanied by the second new moon after the winter solstice.

The Roman New Year actually coincided with the vernal equinox. The ancient Roman calendar consisted of 10 months and 304 days, with each new year beginning at the vernal equinox. According to rumors, the calendar was created by the founder of Rome, Romulus, in the 8th century BC.

However, as the centuries passed, this calendar began to become out of sync with the sun, and in 46 BC the emperor Julius Caesar decided to solve this problem by consulting with the top astronomers and mathematicians of the time. He then created the Julian calendar, a solar calendar very similar to the modern Gregorian calendar used today in many countries around the world.

As part of his innovation, Caesar chose January 1 as the first day of the year. The reason for this was to commemorate the Roman god of change and beginnings, Janus, who bears the same name as this month and whose two faces look to the past and the other to the future. This concept began to be used to describe the transition from one year to a new year.

    Martin Luther King Day

Every year since 1986, on the third Monday of January in the USA, on King’s birthday, the civil rights leader and the ideals he espoused throughout his life are commemorated and spoken about, and King’s love for peace is expressed.

He is known around the world for his views on nonviolence and racial equality, and was awarded the 1964 Nobel Peace Prize. Also, in 1977, nine years after his death, he was awarded the Presidential Freedom Award by former US president Jimmy Carter, and Martin Luther King Day was celebrated in his honor. King’s most well-known and influential speech is “I Have a Dream”.

Thank you for pointing that out! If the website is adding unwanted ads when you try to print, a good solution is to first save the schedule or page as a PDF. Here’s how you can do it:
        1. On a Computer:
        • Right-click anywhere on the page (away from ads) and choose Print.
        • In the print window, change the printer destination to Save as PDF.
        • Save the file to your computer, and then open the PDF to print without the extra clutter.
        2. On a Mobile Device:
        • Look for a “Share” or “Options” icon (usually three dots or lines) on the page.
        • Select an option like Print, then save it as a PDF.
        • Open the PDF file in a cleaner app or email it to yourself for easy access on another device.

If ads are still an issue, you might consider copying the necessary information and pasting it into a word processor like Word or Google Docs. That way, you can format it exactly how you’d like before printing.

Let me know if you need more help. Wishing you all the best!

        Kind regards,

    2. THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH FOR THE FREE CALENDAR.. No Issues on dates-
Thanks too- for the one with the Hollidays, (neededDec 2025-Jan 2026-for now)
Prints out perfect!!! Fast and easy to fit to the very edge of the paper without dropping
the frame of the calendar. Great Job..

    3. Unless I’m missing something, these aren’t really printable calendars. When you click a calendar, it displays it in a pop-up, but there is no print button. When I try to save the image, it is in some kind of web image extension instead of a jpg or similar.

      1. Onerva Kari

If you use the Print option, you can choose to save the opened page as either a PDF or a JPEG from the print dialog. Most browsers allow you to select “Save as PDF” or choose an image format when printing, even if there isn’t a separate download button.

    4. Are you going to link the Bi-monthly 2026 calendars this year? Loved them for 2025. The current 2026 links still lead to the 2025 ones though.
